When I met Delilah she described her new album as “Dark, melodic, soulful, pop”

Delilah was ready to give some empowering words to the youth of Hackney when she was interviewed at the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Academy.

She entered the interview calmly, exploring what inspired her while she was growing up in Camden and how she aims to evolve musically.
Signed to Atlantic Records at 17, singer songwriter Delilah, 21, has her debut album ‘From the Roots Up’ coming out in July. Four words she would use to describe it are; “Dark, melodic, soulful, pop”.
Describing her teenage years as quite a “dark” time, Delilah informed us of the loss of her father, and how this was her “catalyst” to write music.
Delilah argues that as she has got older she has “developed” as an artist, and has “learnt to look at things differently”, using everyday life to arouse new ideas.
She confessed she had very little confidence in her voice when she started, stating that she thought she sounded “wispy”. Listening to artists such as Erykah Badu and Jill Scott helped her to explore a more soulful sound.
When asked where she would like to be in five years, she said that ultimately she wants “more of the same, but bigger and better.”

Her album was released on the 30th of July 2012 - Go out and buy it (I've even linked it to Amazon)!

I'm back!

Hiya,

I'm back!

^ that seems to be a familiar opening to my blog posts! I just want to say that I want some change to my blog. I'm going to make it a music/entertainment blog (fingerscrossed). Just to make it more interesting.

So, as well as reviews I will hopefully be having entertainment gossip as well. Also, I was hoping to do something else to make this blog a little more snazzy. But I will hold back from telling you that, as I want to make it special!

Anyway, what is new with me? I hear you shout!

Nothing.

I have done nothing particularly interesting. I am however, currently looking for a summer job, or just something to do, so I've printed off loads of CV's.

Actually that's a lie. As currently (as in today) I have done nothing but watch catch up TV, property programmes, cooking programmes and Jeremy Kyle.

To conclude, I will hopefully leave you with a another post to read soon!

Bye

AlunaGeorge

Put Up Your Hands by AlunaGeorge

Heya, I just thought I'd review a AlunaGeorge tune.

Right now, AlunaGeorge are really getting big, they have interviews left, right and centre!
Oh yeah, I found out how to do the soundcloud thing I was desperately trying to do last time!

Actually change of plan. I'm not going to review it in a serious way, as I love the tune! And there isn't much else to it! I think its insanely amazing (likewise is the next one I'm going to post). I will do a more researched/serious post about them later on (maybe in the week).

You Know You Like It (Bobby Tank Remix) by AlunaGeorge

This is such a feel good tune! I could imagine this being big in the clubs as well!

Dream On by Sublyminal

Sorry, its going to have to be just the link! I was trying to get the soundcloud player on to my blog, but I just can't do it! I can't remember how I did it before!

Dream On.mp3 LISTEN TO THE TRACK FIRST, FORMULATE YOUR OWN OPINION AND THEN READ MINE...

Name: Sublyminal
From: Atlanta, United States
Genre: Hip Hop
Source: Soundcloud

Anyway, straight away I can inform you that the genre of this music is hiphop/rap (even though on soundcloud it says its hiphop/rock). So, if you are in to hiphop you might really enjoy this!

Secondly, it has loads of different samples mashed together! And this is what kinda put me of it (and may you, or it may not). I think it would be amazing if it started off with a mash up of samples, however when in to its own thing.

However, due to be being in to stuff that s slightly less organic at the moment I enjoyed the beat. It also has a very earlier 1999/2000 sound to it, so that was cool.

OVERALL:
Its not really my thing at the moment, but its an okay song.

New Euterpe (pronounced: yoo-ter-pee)

Hello,

For those of you wondering what the hell "Euterpe" is, then fear no more!
"Euterpe" is the name of the Greek Goddess of music. So now that we have cleared that up, let me show you what is NEW.

So, yesterday I asked for a request for new music (on Twitter: Follow me by clicking on the link), since I knew that I wanted to do exactly this! I wanted to blog about it, and get it out there.

So, here is the first track of today, there will be more coming up later!

Disclosure - The Face EP

Hello I'm back,

I thought I'd feed my blog readers with some more great music!
As many of you may (or may not) know, I am a huge fan of Disclosure. I found out about them some time last year, and ever since I have been hooked!

Anyway they have just released a new EP. On a random note: Doesn't the word "released" make it sound like an animal? Maybe it just me, but you could just imagine that like an animal, the EP being released from the simple knowledge of a couple of people, and then reaching the masses (with a beastly attitude)!

You can find this NEW EP (released just ONE DAY ago - roarrrr), on soundcloud (click on the word soundcloud to be directed directly to the wonderful, amazing, fantastic EP; that is 'The Face').

My favourite song on the EP is 'Control ft Ria Ritchie' - I don't know if that's because I had heard the others way before, and I had rinsed them!

Let me just give you a little background knowledge of the boys:

Called a "Dance pop duo" by the Guardian, so they obvious consist of two people. Those two people are brothers and they go by the name of Guy and Howard Lawrence.
I'm going to use a word that I have been using all week (because of MIC - Made In Chelsea), but they seem like a gregarious duo. They are both very young, both in age and on the scene.

To find out more about the band, go on to their facebook, twitter and soundcloud to follow any updates.

Jesse Boykins III - New music

Hello,

I'm back from the dark, winter cave (of my room). Revision is now over, and I don't have anymore exams! So, its happy dayz for me!
Now I suppose its about getting ready for YR13. Like the age 13, it sounds like such a big jump from YR12.

Anyway, enough about school, I have some NEW (yes that's right, NEW) music for my fellow bloggers and blog readers.

Have any of you heard of Jesse Boykins III? He's from Chicago, however, he spent most of his childhood growing up between towns and countries. Anyway, now he is a great explorer soul music, and he blew away the London fan in the Jazz Cafe with his song 'B4 the Night is Thru'.

Its just amazing!

He's voice is just so soulful, I think that it will bring a new kind of sound back. In addition to his beautiful sounding voice, he looks like he just has so much fun on stage. You could just imagine the atmosphere in his gigs (just completely electrified).

Anyway, I will leave you with a few links to do some exploring yourself:

Jesse Boykins III - Website

I believe you can download a free album - but don't quote me on it!

Jesse Boykins III - Soundcloud

On his soundcloud, you can find loads of remixes of 'B4 the night is thru' - and some other amazing songs!

Jesse Boykins III - Twitter

And obviously you can follow his updates.

Hope you have fun!
