Performance Taylor McFerrin and his dad, Bobby Music Instinct PBS
This is insanely good to watch and listen! This is music!
Taylor McFerrin - Georgia
This is just pure beauty to listen to...
Son of the talented Bobby McFerrin - lets not forget that he deserves his own credit though.
The Elektrik Cave - Artwork
So, I know on facebook and on twitter I sent out a few posts about anyone creating my art work - and then I had a huge realisation that no one will probably respond (which was only a little bit true as a very few did, and none of which seem particularly serious about doing it).
Jack Marshall
So, I'd seen this guys artwork sort of bobbing around on the net and on his brothers album cover and I really liked his stuff, so I emailed him not really expecting a reply. A day or two later I got a reply. And I was over the moon! And he was so lovely too, which was great!
Anyway, a long story short - he created the art work for my show, and I absolutely love it! Its amazing. So, I thought I'd share it with you guys!
Its so good, so I was well chuffed with it!

Portico Quartet - 18th Oct. 2012 gig
Ticket for Portico Quartet |
So, on the 18th October 2012, I went to see Portico Quartet for the first time, and they were really really good! A mate of mine had just interviewed them, and was like do you want to come with me to see them live, and I was like "well yeah!" - so we got our tickets sorted and watched from the members lounge.
After seeing Ed Sheeran earlier that week, I would argue that the set that Portico Quartet had to offer was just phenomenal in comparison. Don't get me wrong Ed was good, but Portico Quartet were amazing.
Th acoustics in the Roundhouse is always perfect for live performances - because of the shape, so the music just travelled round the edge, almost awakening the walls of the old "turntable engine shed" (I quote from wikipedia).
Taylor McFerrin also did a set, and he was great. He was so good, I played him in my first radio show on Roundhouse Radio.
He's also the son of Bobby McFerrin - so I expected that he would be really good!
I didnt get to see DJ LV's set - but I'm sure it was good.
And that was the blog post that I was meant to post back in October - but I've been so busy I havent had much time.
Remember to tune in to The Elektrik Cave on Roundhouse Radio, for an hour of Electronic music from around the globe.

Ed She Ran!
Heyaaaa,
I really dont know why I put "Ed She Ran!" as the title for this post, because to my awareness no one ran! :/
BUTTT...
...yesterday I saw Ed Sheeran in the Hammersmith Apollo (cinema turn't gig space - and when I told my mate this, she was like "I don't care").
Anyway, he was amazing (two words I use often "Anyway" and "amazing"). He really got the crowd going, and some times his gig was calm, and other times they were pretty mad and intense! At one point he got everyone to put there arms round the person they came with and to sway with them. This was fun, my only issue is that my mate is about 5cm tall and I'm about a metre tall (if we could convert it in to cm stuff - I really should stop teasing her about her height, really she cant do anything to change it - therefore I declare (right here, right now) on blogspot that I love her shortness, and I only tease her out of love! Amen).
Ed Sheeran was really good live, and to be honest I kinda knew what to expect because I saw him at the Hackney Weekender, but the HUGEEE stage didnt do him much justice because his music is quite raw.
He used the loopy thing a couple of times, and got the audience to be quiet, and it felt really nice - it felt like I was in a personal recording session with Ed, and just watching him do his thing.
As always, I did my "Woooooo!" thing, and I always aimed to catch the quiet points in the gig (obviously except the times he told everyone to be quiet).
In addition to Ed, he also had some fantastic support acts. One of which, was amazing in terms of vocals and sounded like a one man band Mumford and Son. He's name was Passenger and I guess you could check him out. I think he has a EP coming out soon (or its just come out, I cant remember which).

Twitter: https://twitter.com/passengermusic
ANYWAY, last night was pretty epic, I got home mega late, and still had homework to do. I thought, lemme go to bed now, and in the morning I will see a more motivated, young individual who isn't so tired!

Angel Haze runs NY
King Krule has reworked Angel Haze - New York and it sounds amazing!
So a little (tiny winy bit of) information about Angel Haze:
Shes an American rapper from Michigan and shes signed to Universal Republic and Island.
Angel, has recently released her EP Reservation online (back in July) - and shes one to look out for.
She has that old school rap vibe to her music which I really enjoy. And this reworked version is simply bliss to listen to (Well Done Archy)!

YOUTUBE comment: STEVENCHING73 "What a pile of hipster bullshit." I personally fail to see where you're coming from...
Hiyaaa,
Happy Monday, and Happy First Day of the Month (its October alreadly, ahhh!).
So, yesterday I was listening to Radio One (as I normally do on a Sunday). And Annie Mac started playing this...[Wild Belle - It's Too Late]
And I was like...
"Oh my, this is amazing!"
She is like the American Ava Leigh (but not as good!) and I love the video, I think its amazing.
Oh yeah, the reason a youtubers comment is in the title is because it really caught my eye. STEVENCHING73 said " What a pile of hipster bullshit." And I was like WAHH, have you got cotton wool stuck in your ears, stop labelling people and just listen to the music (who cares if shes a hipster, or if she isn't, just enjoy the music). This song is amazing, and sounds beautiful and the video is just perfect, and I was just so baffled as to why anyone would say that!

Listening to this...
Yuk jamie isaacs and the lank slacks by djjdsports
I think Jamie Issacs (one to watch) and DJ JD Sports (Also another one to watch, but is already making his mark on the scene - as well as my heart! Shh!) made this together!
I am really looking forward to the new album that Mr DJ JD Sports will be releasing soon, well next year!

King Krule is back with a vengeance!
I feel slightly embarrassed saying this (and rightly so), I didn't realise that King Krule had soundcloud, or if I did - I never bothered following him. And now like an empty glassing filling up with water the regret starts to fill me.
King Krule said on his facebook that he's "back with a vengance!" (obviously we all know what he meant). Now, I don't know if its genuinely his account but he then posted on a different account a couple of days later the song that I'm about to post.
I think its amazing. He has the right merge of all the correct instruments, vocally its perfect for the tune and just his general amazingness.
I absolutely love this, and I love him! I'm just waiting for an album!

Mr Boykins exclaims that he's a 'Restless Dreamer'
As everyone knows, I'm a fan of the amazing Jesse Boykins III, he has just released another track on Soundcloud.
Give it a listen, and tell me what you think.
Restless Dreamer [King re.fix] by Jesse Boykins III
It reminds me of old school RNB and slow tunes. Its so good! However, he's put it under the genre 'world soul'.

Jesse Boykins III
An independent
artist. Singer songwriter. Born in Chicago.
Spent most of his childhood in the Caribbean. Style icon inspired by the 30’s, 40’s
and 50’s.
Jesse Boykins III (JB3), the 27 year old singer songwriter spent his
childhood in Jamaica and Miami where he discovered his talent, and enjoyment
for hearing different sounds. The Chicago born musician, then moved to New York
City to spend his teenage years. Clearly inspired by each environment, JB3 is
influenced musically by all types of genres. JB3 has been known to not specify
what genre he creates, but always aims for it to be something the audience can
connect to.
His first EP came out in early 2008 and was called ‘Dopamine: My Life On My Back’, and has a very D’Angelo
inspired feel to it. This heartfelt EP, reveals some personal and soul touching
feelings. He then went on to create ‘The Beauty Created’ album released in the
latter part of 2008, where he worked with producers such as afta – 1 and Steve Wyreman (who has
worked with the likes of American Artist, Common). Then JB3 went on to release
another EP in 2011 called ‘Way
Of A Wayfarer’ with a slightly different feel to previous releases. As a
listener it was like he had evolved, and found a new way to still be true to
himself and his music, but the sound and style was a little different.
Recently, Jesse Boykins III has paired up
with MeLo-X, to craft ‘Zulu Guru’. Rooted in soul music,
Jesse Boykins and MeLo-X have brought what they know to the hip hop and R&B
table. Released on a British independent
record label, Ninja Tune (Zulu Guru will be released on the 15th of October)
the boys will certainly take the UK by storm!
His aim as an artist is
to be remembered and spoken about, when he is no longer creating music. And I
think that this deep rooted artist has already made a nice footprint on us with
his heart driven music!

Happy Friday!
Its Friday, so that means its the start of the weekend!
This week I have found a few songs that I want to blog about, however I wanted to leave it to Friday to write about them (I need to have a set day for writing on my blog).
The next post will reveal all!

When I met Delilah she described her new album as “Dark, melodic, soulful, pop”
Delilah was ready to give some empowering words to the youth of Hackney when she was interviewed at the BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra Academy.
She entered the interview calmly, exploring what inspired her while she was growing up in Camden and how she aims to evolve musically.
She entered the interview calmly, exploring what inspired her while she was growing up in Camden and how she aims to evolve musically.
Signed to Atlantic Records at 17, singer songwriter Delilah, 21, has her debut album ‘From the Roots Up’ coming out in July. Four words she would use to describe it are; “Dark, melodic, soulful, pop”.
Describing her teenage years as quite a “dark” time, Delilah informed us of the loss of her father, and how this was her “catalyst” to write music.
Delilah argues that as she has got older she has “developed” as an artist, and has “learnt to look at things differently”, using everyday life to arouse new ideas.
She confessed she had very little confidence in her voice when she started, stating that she thought she sounded “wispy”. Listening to artists such as Erykah Badu and Jill Scott helped her to explore a more soulful sound.
When asked where she would like to be in five years, she said that ultimately she wants “more of the same, but bigger and better.”
Her album was released on the 30th of July 2012 - Go out and buy it (I've even linked it to Amazon)!
